Mango Tree Goa is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. To demonstrate our commitment to maintaining your trust and confidence our Privacy Policy sets out information about when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, the limited conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.

1. Who We Are

Mango Tree Goa is a registered Charity which supports disadvantaged children in Goa through education and activities which support education. We are registered with the Charity Commission in England and Wales. Our Charity Registration Number is 1148049. Our registered address is 12 Black Horse Drive, Silkstone Common, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S75 4SD.

We are a “Data Controller” for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998 and (from 25 May 2018 the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679. This means that we are responsible for, and control the processing of, your personal information.

At Mango Tree Goa we take your privacy seriously and we will only use your personal information in the manner to which you have consented or to meet our legal obligations. In particular we want you to know that we never share personal data with any other organisation for marketing purposes.

 

2. What Data We Collect And How We Use It

The type and quantity of data we collect and use depends on why you have provided it. We will only collect, use and otherwise handle your personal data:

  • where you have consented to this for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes
  • where this is necessary to fulfil legal obligations that apply to us
  • where it is necessary for our legitimate interests relating to running our daily operations, as long as in each case, these interests are in line with applicable law and your legal rights and freedoms.

Supporters

If you support us, for example by making a donation, signing up to Gift Aid or joining our Child Sponsorship scheme we will usually collect:

  • Your name
  • email address
  • Where necessary your home address
  • Your contact details
  • Whether you would like to be contacted
  • Confirmation that we may do so by email
  • If appropriate, we may also ask to collect your financial details and Gift Aid eligibility

We will use this data so we can:-

  • keep you up to date with information you have requested
  • fulfil our legal responsibilities for financial matters and Gift Aid administration.
  • update you with important administrative messages about your donation or an event
  • comply with the Charities (Protection and Social Investment) Act 2016 and follow the recommendations of the official regulator of charities, the Charity Commission, which require us to identify and verify the identity of supporters who make major gifts so we can assess any risks associated with accepting their donations.
  • keep a record of your relationship with us.

We prefer donors to set up their own regular payments. Where we are asked to do so we will not keep an electronic copy of any donor’s bank details.

We will keep your data only for as long as necessary. If you have donated to us, we are required to keep this data for seven years. If you have not donated to us, we will only keep your data for three years.

Online Donations and Fundraising Pages

We also collect data about donors and fundraisers via third party payment processors e.g Virgin Money Giving, BTMyDonate. If you make a donation online your card information is not held by us, it is collected by our third party payment processors, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions. In order to maintain our accounts we download personal data in the form of reports from our third party payment processors but retain the minimum amount of personal detail to support our accounts and thank our donors and to record your consent for us to contact you.

You should check any privacy policy provided to you where you give your data to a third party.

Mailing Lists

As part of the registration process for our quarterly e-newsletter, we collect personal information including your name and email address. We use that information for a couple of reasons:

  • to tell you about our news and fundraising activities.

We never rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses. We use a third-party provider to deliver our newsletter. The provider also collects (via sign-up forms) and stores personal data within our MailChimp account to enable us to send out our newsletter and monitor its performance. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing us at mangotreegoa@hotmail.co.uk

Storytellers

Some of you kindly tell us stories about your experiences, both fundraising and other. We may wish to publicly thank you so that your supporters are clear that both you and they are appreciated, or we may wish to use your story to help us in our campaigns and to promote other fundraising. We will record the details of the story, and contact details to enable us to get updated approval to use the story.

We will keep this data for three years after you give it to us and will always contact you each time we wish to use it.

Photography

Some of you kindly let us use photography and images to help with fundraising. We keep these images securely and will only use them with permission. We keep these images for three years after we have been given them, unless you state otherwise.

Social Media

Depending on your settings or the privacy policies for social media and messaging services like Facebook, WhatsApp or Twitter, you might give us permission to access information from those services, for example when you publicly tag us in an event photo. We may wish to share/publicise your content but will only do so with your permission. Reproduction of compliments on Social Media may be used to help raise awareness of our work but we will not identify you directly by name when we do this. We keep any related images and information securely for three years after we obtain them, unless you ask us otherwise.

Cookies & Website

Many organisations use third party services such as Google Analytics to collect information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. Mango Tree Goa does not currently collect and analyse any information from its website.

Our website may contain links to other websites run by other organisations. This privacy policy applies only to our website‚ so we encourage you to read the privacy statements on the other websites you visit. We cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other sites even if you access them using links from our website.

In addition, if you linked to our website from a third party site, we cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of the owners and operators of that third party site and recommend that you check the policy of that third party site.

 

3. Who has access to your information?

We will not sell or rent your information to third parties.

We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third Party Service Providers working on our behalf:

We may pass your information to our third party service providers, agents subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to process donations and send you mailings). However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service

When you are using our secure online donation pages, your donation is processed by a third party payment processor e.g. BT MyDonate, Virgin Money Giving, who specialises in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions. The payment processors have their own privacy policies and you are advised to check them before sharing your data with them.

 

4. Keeping Your Data Safe And Up To Date

We take looking after your information seriously. We have implemented appropriate measures to protect the personal information we have under our control from improper access, use, alteration, destruction and loss. Unfortunately, the transmission of information using the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information sent to us this way, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to our site. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your information, we ensure that appropriate controls are in place to keep your data safely.

Your data will be hosted on servers located in the European Union, except in the case of Mailchimp, where the data will be stored in the US.

5. Your Rights

We will only collect the data that we need to carry out the purposes you have contacted us for or given us permission to use it for. However, to enable us to carry out the purposes you have contacted us for, there will be occasions when we will make some data collection mandatory i.e. your name and address to claim gift aid. If you don’t provide this data, we cannot carry out the purposes you have contacted us for.

At any time that you wish you can:

  • gain access to your personal information,
  • object to the processing of your personal information,
  • restrict the processing of your personal information,
  • ask for a copy of your personal data (known as data portability),
  • rectify or correct your personal information,
  • have your personal information removed (erasure) if you have removed your consent and we have no lawful basis for retaining it.

Where you have provided consent to be contacted or to receive a service, you will be entitled to withdraw that consent at any time.
