Our First Anniversary 10-Jun
Mango Tree Goa was founded on 9th June 2012. As we celebrate our first anniversary there could have been no finer gift than to be able to report on the inauguration of two brand new pre-primary schools and afternoon tuition classes at the Mango House and Chimbel projects. Each project will support around 170 children. The last week or so also saw the giving out of around 400 school uniforms and filled school bags to Mango House, Dr Ambedkar and Colva children and the news of fabulous exam success amongst the children the Charity supports both at Colva and Mango House.
It’s been a really exciting year but as ever we are mindful that without supporters and our partners in Goa nothing would be possible and we really do say thank you to all for being part of our team.
Thank you!

School Bags and Uniform Provision - Gallery Published 07-Jun
The preparation and giving of over 400 school bags and uniforms is a big task but the result is that the children have at least one decent uniform, a school bag, school supplies and either a rain mac or umbrella. We have put together a gallery that gives a flavour of the preparation and giving of school bags and uniforms in June...... View Gallery
Giving Out School Supplies 03-Jun
Today the first lot of school bags and uniforms were handed out to the children that Mango House supports on a regular basis. Both children and a parent were invited to attend Mango House in various groups throughout the day and we were especially pleased to learn that many parents had attended. It was a hugely successful day and the start of a very busy week giving out the remaining school supplies and preparing to receive children at the House from Monday.
Exam Success at the Mango Tree Trust 27-May
One of the ways we can measure the impact of the Charity's work is by monitoring exam success. We are delighted to learn that 93 of the 95 school going children supported in full time school sat their exams and all but 2 passed at the first attempt. The remaining 2 children have to resit just one paper each and are expected to pass. It is an outstanding achievement by any standard and a credit to the support the Mango Hour team offers.
Bags4School - 386 Bags All Ready To Go 27-May
Anyone who visited Mango House towards the end of the season would have seen the growing piles of stationery and healthcare items in readiness for the Bags4School project. We reckon there are about 30 bags here so just imagine over 380 all packed and ready to go next week to various groups of children. It might sound simple enough but it's actually quite a mammoth task to plan, purchase, sort and pack. We say a huge well done to Savita and her team and thank you to everyone whose support makes schemes like these possible.
Summer Outing 13-May
It is the long summer school holidays in Goa. Many of the children and their families have headed back to their villages but for the remaining children it was time for an outing. 34 children and the Mango House staff recently travelled to the edge of the Western Ghats in North East Goa. They took a picnc and visited Zogati Farm which grows plants used in Ayurvedic products. The children had a great time playing in the water and many of them asked "when can we come again?"
Mango House to Open For Children 18-Apr
We are delighted to announce that Mango House will open for children in the New School year in June. In the morning a pre-primary school will run and in the afternoon tuition classes will be offered. There are a busy few weeks ahead as we recruit two additional teachers, prepare the House and enrol the children but we are all very excited that we can provide children with a wonderful learning environment in future.

Optical Camp at Mango House 10-Apr
An optical camp for 85 children was conducted at Mango House recently. Imagine if just one child who had a problem was identified and we could do something about it - it could change a child's life. A small number of children do need further examination which will take place shortly. We say a huge thank you to John and Umarani for carrying out the camp and to Gill for introducing them to Mango Tree.
